Ryan Murphy: No Plans for a ‘Glee’ Movie YetBy
One word sums it all up for me: whew!
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that there are no plans for a Glee movie in the foreseeable future. That, despite talk last week that all the major starts of the show — including Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Lea Michele and Mark Salling — have signed contracts with 20th Century Fox in case plans for the big screen push through.
There would’ve been up to three Glee movies, but according to Murphy, that’s not their priority right now. “Despite overtures, I and the studio have decided we want to put our energy into the second season with no distractions from the cast.”
And it’s a good move, methinks. Sure, there’s my fear that a Glee film would lose the spark that made the television show so special. But there’s also quite a lot going on with both the cast and the crew. The writers are preparing storylines for both the second and third seasons, and also going through all the online auditions so they can fill three new roles in the fall. And then there’s news of pop star Charice joining the show as an exchange student who’ll kill Rachel, more or less. Not to mention all the songs they have to think about.
Still, gleeks, a question: would you still want to see a Glee movie? Or would you rather they focus all energy on the TV show — and maybe improve the whole thing? You know where I’m going with this…
